organic cashew nuts, revitalised water, Himalayan salt, and plant-based cultures, then depending on the product we add organic spices and herbs
We have chosen cashews for three reasons: Sustainability, taste and Health.
Cashew nuts are a very sustainable option for cheese alternative products. Cashew trees grow in the wild in a natural rain forest environment and require no extra maintenance or water. Even with the transportation the carbon footprint of the final product is 1/10th of that of traditional cheese
The mild but sweet taste of the cashew nut is relatively easy to mask in the cheese.making resulting in a product that taste like a real cheese rather than a nut product.
From a health standpoint, cashews are full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and are also free from cholesterol.
Where are the cashews from?
We work exclusively with a cashew producer in Tanzania. We have chosen our partner carefully due to their transparency, environmental policies and workers conditions. They have built one of the largest, most modern cashew factories in the world and are oversee the entire cashew chain from seed to shelf.
Does your cheese melt or stretch?
Our cheese softens when heated but it does not stretch. This is because it has no casein or other melting agents in it.
