Artisanal Aged Cultured Cashew Cheeze

Why Cashews?

We have chosen cashews for three reasons: Sustainability, Taste and Health.

Cashew nuts are a very sustainable option for cheese alternative products. Cashew trees grow in the wild in a natural rain forest environment and require no extra maintenance or water.

Even with the transportation the carbon footprint of the final product is 1/10th of that of traditional cheese.

The mild but sweet taste of the cashew nut is relatively easy to mask in the cheese, resulting in a product that taste like a real cheese rather than a nut product.

From a health standpoint, cashews are full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and are also free from cholesterol.


Why are your cheezes defined "CLEAN LABEL PRODUCTS"?

Because we use 4 basic ingredients for all our products: organic cashew nuts, revitalised water, sea salt, plant-based cultures and, depending on the cheeze flavour, we add organic and locally produced spices and herbs.

We DO NOT use preservatives nor artificial aromas in our cheeze.


Where are the cashews from?

Our cashews areorganic,fairtrade and 100% processed and packaged at source in Burkina Faso. The entire manufacturing process is operated within the national borders

(reducing hugely the Co2 emissions caused by the travel to Asia where the 90% of the african cashews are usually shelled, peeled and packed).

In 2018, they had 1,540 workers supporting their families through their employment and, as campaigners for women's rights, around 80% of the employees are female. 


How long do your products last?

Our products are fermented and naturally preserved but we recommend to consumed them within 5 days of opening.


What about the shelf life?

Our cheezes are vac packed in a compostable pouch which guarantees 10 weeks of shelf life. Our mould-ripened cheezes have a 3 week best before date.


Is your packaging recyclable?

The packaging of our aged cheeze is 100% recyclable and plastic-free.

The cardboard box can be recycled as paper and the eco-pouch is plant based and compostable. Our mould ripened cheezes are wrapped in regular cheese paper at the moment and we are still looking for better alternatives.


Can I freeze your cheeze?

Yes, the aged cheezes are ok to freeze. They might change a bit in the looks and texture, but they are safe to eat. We do not reccomend to freeze the mould-ripened cheezes.


Does your cheeze melt or stretch?

Our cheeze softens when heated but it does not stretch. This is because it has no casein or other melting agents in it. 


Are your products organic?

All our products are 100% organic certified and fairtrade. 


Are the cheese gluten-free and without soy?

All our products are gluten-free, soy-free and of course lactose-free.


1 kr of each cheeze sold goes to the animals?

Yes, we are committed to supporting the animals, we donate 1KR of each cheeze we sell per year to different Swedish animal rights organisations, that fight everyday to protect the welfare of the animals.
